Jewellery Care Guide
Your AANYA jewellery is made to be worn, enjoyed and cared for. Good care helps preserve its finish and keeps your pieces looking their best.
Before you wear your jewellery
Put jewellery on after perfumes, lotions, makeup, hairspray and other cosmetics have dried. These products can affect silver and plated finishes over time.
Keep silver away from moisture and chemicals
Remove jewellery before bathing, swimming, exercising or entering pools and hot tubs. Avoid direct contact with chlorine, bleach, household cleaning chemicals and strong solvents.
How to clean 925 sterling silver
For routine care, gently wipe the piece with a clean, soft, dry jewellery cloth after wearing. For products with stones, plating or delicate details, use extra care and follow any product-specific instructions provided with the piece.
Do not use abrasive powders, rough cloths, toothpaste or harsh polishing compounds unless AANYA specifically recommends them for that product.
Gold-plated and plated jewellery
Plated surfaces are designed to add a particular finish to the underlying jewellery. Repeated exposure to water, sweat, perfumes, chemicals and friction can gradually affect plating. Keep plated pieces dry and wipe them gently after wear.
Jewellery with stones
Stones and decorative settings can require more delicate handling. Avoid dropping, bending or pulling jewellery, and do not use aggressive cleaners that may affect stones, settings or finishes.
How to store your jewellery
- Store each piece separately where possible to reduce scratches and tangling.
- Keep jewellery in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Use the AANYA box or a soft jewellery pouch for storage.
- Keep chains clasped when storing to reduce tangling.
Why silver can change colour
925 sterling silver can naturally tarnish when it reacts with compounds in air, moisture, sweat and other substances. Tarnishing does not necessarily mean the jewellery is damaged. Gentle cleaning and proper storage can help restore its appearance.
Everyday care checklist
- Jewellery on last, jewellery off first.
- Keep it away from perfume and chemicals.
- Remove it before bathing, swimming and exercise.
- Wipe it after wearing.
- Store it dry and separately.
- Check clasps and settings periodically.
